The Hermitage of the Mare de Déu de la Riera, located about 800 meters west of the town, is a modernist building from the early 20th century (1903-1904) by the architect Francesc Berenguer i Mestre, one of Antoni Gaudí's most direct collaborators. The works were financed by the executors of Magdalena Martorell, Lady of Gener. The sanctuary was blessed in 1904, partly demolished in 1939 and rebuilt again in 1954 under the direction of the architect Francesc Adell from Reus.
