This is a very beautiful part of the Alme cycle path, between Niederntudorf and Wewelsburg.

The Almetalbahn, named after the Alme river, is a total of 60 kilometers long, single-track, non-electrified secondary railway line, parts of which are not in operation, from Paderborn via Büren and Brilon to the Brilon Wald railway junction. In the long term, the commissioning of the entire route for regional rail transport, including the construction of a new railway line on the Paderborn – Büren section, is planned. The section between Paderborn and Büren Weinberg is decommissioned and dismantled, but not declassified. The remaining route between Büren Weinberg and Brilon Wald was used for a long time only for freight transport and by a museum railway; since 2011, regional trains (Dortmund-Sauerland-Express) have been running again on the section between Brilon Stadt and Brilon Wald.

Simply a great long trail, both uphill and downhill, definitely at the top of the range. Highly recommended 🤙👌 Rid it in August 2025 and the trail was in good condition, a bit overgrown here and there, a few nettles, but otherwise no obstacles like tree trunks, etc.
