Queen Binky
November 13, 2024, Sustrans Cycle Route on A Road

This is part of the Sustrans cycle network but is in fact a major A road with cars travelling at high speed. Some drivers are as surprised as you are that you’re there and can pass very close. Brace yourself!

Take some time to walk up the hill & around the top. It's an area of heathland called "The Tump"! Lots of opportunities to see wildlife, especially birds. It's usually quiet up here, and really pretty. I've added a screenshot where I've circled the pathway that goes around the summit - You can walk up here and then decend down by the lake, for example. Or, you can walk up, complete the loop & head back down! Either way, I'd say it's worth coming up here

October 12, 2024, Three Brooks Lake

Such a lush spot, especially in Autumn πŸ‚πŸ–€πŸ‚ (I'm biased, I think it's the best time of year!) It is worth a walk, and you can easily walk there down the direct path, or there are ways up & down from "The Tump"

This is good in both directions but rocky and steep in places.

A very quiet lane, which is more akin to a gravel track in places. Doable on any bike, but not sure I would take a superbike down there! If you're going to or coming from Spring Lane (Avon Cycleway) joining the main road can be avoided by the 5 metres of pavement between the two.

Gets very boggy by the lake in winter, otherwise it's a great track. The boggy bit might be avoidable with a small detour.

A great alternative start or finish to the superb Gambril Lane... adds to the gravel fun!
