March 29, 2026, The Iron Duke Pub

Visited on a Sunday afternoon, staff were absolutely wonderful. They were serving Sunday roasts but also had other food available, the soup was delicious and helped us complete our ride!

The Iron Duke is a friendly hostelry, situated on the outskirts of Stratfield Saye. There are many Kms of quiet lanes that I always have enjoyed over many years, going off in various directions. Definitely worth a visit, whether for a beer or just a coffee.

October 9, 2021, The Iron Duke Pub

***Update October 2025 - After about 18 months of closure it's back! Only open on Sundays and Wednesdays at the moment (also Bank Holidays), but it's back nonetheless.*** Friendly country pub. Has a drinking water tap in the garden and barman was keen to let me know that they're happy for this to be used out of hours. Probably best not to take the p!ss, but good to know.

Bakery has approx 8 bike stands and great place for cyclists to sit under cover and enjoy drinks and food. Very handy place to stop for refreshments.

February 8, 2021, Fair Cross Shelter

A little shelter at Fair Cross just outside Stratfield Saye. Perfect spot to stop for a quick refuel mid ride.

Bramley Village Bakery is located on Sherfield Rd, just before the level crossing and beside Bramley train station. Friendly staff will help you to a rich selection of coffee, cakes and savoury treats that are likely to satisfy the hungriest of cyclists. Probably not much help if you're out on a ride, but if you're local they'll also bake you cakes to order to celebrate that special occasion with your loved ones.
