The sports hall was built in 1923 and was funded by the honorary citizen of the city, Baron Dietrich von Klitzing. His coat of arms can be seen on the facade of the building. It was built with taste, had tasteful interiors and, for those times, was very well equipped with modern exercise equipment. The walls of the hall were decorated with sports paintings. It had a meeting room, changing rooms, showers, an apartment for the caretaker of the hall and a stylish stage with modern lighting. The lower room of the hall was arranged as a complement to the baths located in the "Friday Gardens" (youth hostel). On May 1, 1950, the first permanent cinema, called "Odra", was opened in the hall on Gorzowska Street. The hall was adapted to the conditions of the shows - at that time it had over 200 seats. The cinema enjoyed great success and recognition of the residents. The films shown were delivered from the Film Distribution Center in Poznań. However, after the opening of the “Stolica” panoramic cinema in 1959, the “Odra” cinema ceased to exist. In 1963, renovation of the hall began. The unused, beautiful sports facility will serve the local youth and the sports club. The residents of Barlinek still remember the physical education classes, discos, and Christmas parties that took place there. In later years, the sports hall was transformed into a commercial facility.
