The Monte dell'Ascensione is a relief of the Marche sub-Apennine at an altitude of 1100 meters. It is surrounded by spectacular gullies, which form part of the protected area of the Parco dei Calanchi e Monte Ascensione, and its name derives from a church there to be found on the summit founded in the 14th century by Meco del Sacco, a hermit and preacher.

Capradosso is located at the foot of Monte Ascensione, it is a small fraction of the municipality of Rotella and until 1869 it was an independent municipality. To reach it from Rotella it is about 5 kilometers uphill and 250 meters in altitude along a small paved road through the countryside.
