Nice bridge to cross the river La Muga by bike or on foot. When you cross the bridge by bike you might think it will collapse anytime soon because the planks make a lot of noise. Passed it three times last week and nothing happened 😅

The Muga River is a natural jewel that meanders through the Alt Empordà region, offering varied landscapes and rich biodiversity. Born in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the Muga River travels approximately 58 kilometers before finding its final destination in the Mediterranean Sea, precisely in the urbanization of Empuriabrava, in the municipality of Castelló d'Empúries. The mouth of the Muga River in Empuriabrava is a spectacle in itself. Empuriabrava is known as the "Venice of the Mediterranean" due to its extensive network of navigable canals, and the point where the river meets the sea becomes a meeting point of fresh and salt water. This area is especially popular with lovers of water sports, such as sailing and kitesurfing, thanks to the favorable wind and water conditions. Furthermore, the mouth of the Muga and its surroundings are part of the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park, one of the most important wetland areas in Catalonia. This park is a vital refuge for numerous species of migratory birds and a spectacular display of the natural beauty of the region.

Useful for crossing away from major roads. On the town side, to the east, there is a picnic area and a fountain to fill water bottles. Be careful, you cannot cross the wastewater treatment plant to the west, so you have to go around it using a small path, keeping it on your left after the footbridge.

La Marina d'Empurabrava is a holiday town that extends about 23 km. of navigable channels with 5,000 moorings, of which 700 are for boats up to 25 meters in length. In short, a port of great capacity, equipped with high-level equipment as befits the largest residential marina in Europe. Located between the Aiguamolls of Empordá and Puerto de Rosas, in the heart of this bay just 3 miles from the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the entrance is between the Muga and Salins rivers and should not be confused with the Santa Margarida mouth. just 1.5 miles NE. Access to the marina is through a long channel 55 meters wide and dredged 3 meters deep. In total there are 23 kilometers of navigable channels that can be explored in smaller boats such as kayaks. Residential complexes are built along these canals. Marina d'Empuriabrava is an excellent refuge for those boats that sail through the area when the Tramuntana blows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiRHkByDKfs
