Perfect gravelroad right above Palamos. The “little train” greenway runs for 6 km between Palamós and Palafrugell along the disused narrowgauge railway track formerly linking Palamós with Girona

I recommend keeping your eyes peeled and riding very carefully. In winter, the wet rock combined with the severe gradient in some sections can make this descent dangerous, so it is best to approach it calmly and with good control. In summer, the experience changes and becomes fun, but you have two options to enjoy it: Go down it carefully, doing trials at a controlled speed. Or go at full speed, taking advantage of the inertia of the gradient and the weight of your body to let the bike do the work. Of course, if you choose the second option and you do it, something is guaranteed to break... so be careful! 😅

It is part of the group of traditional farmhouses in this area, which are of great importance within the Catalan rural heritage. Mas Plajà is one of the most important and representative farmhouses in the Fitor area. Its origin dates back to medieval times, being a typical example of Catalan rural architecture, linked to agricultural, livestock and forestry exploitation. These farmhouses served as a self-sufficient production centre, taking advantage of the natural resources of the Gavarres, such as dry farming (cereals, olive trees, vineyards) and obtaining charcoal in its forests.

It is a Romanesque style temple consecrated in the year 948, which makes it one of the churches with the oldest known date of consecration in Girona. Originally it had a single nave with a deep apse built with large slate slabs and a bell tower, typical of the architecture of the late 10th century. At the beginning of the 11th century, the church was enlarged: the main nave was lengthened, a second parallel nave with a barrel vault was added, and the roof became gabled, with the ridge located next to the bell tower.

The trails are in good condition, and the views here are quite good. Right at this point, there's a parking lot used by hikers who want to climb to the Puig d'Arques viewpoint. Once past this point, the fun begins: continuous descents and paths that wind through the forest.
