https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca9s4fmbnVw The abbey church of Saint-Maurice in Ebersmunster as we see it today dates from the beginning of the 18th century. It was built by an Austrian architect on the site of an old medieval abbey dedicated to Saint-Maurice. Ebersmunster Abbey constitutes the only achievement in France of the Baroque style of Vorarlberg (region of Austria). With its towers with onion-shaped roofs and green glazed tiles, you can see Ebersmsunter Abbey from quite a distance. Already pretty from the outside, it reveals all its splendor inside: a pure baroque masterpiece awaits you! You must at all costs cross the door of the building to admire this church of exceptional beauty and whose interior enjoys magnificent clarity. Frescoes, stucco, gilding, magnificent painted decorations on the vault, statues... majestic decorations await visitors. In particular, you should not miss admiring the splendid high altar topped with an immense crown, which is the work of Jean-Léonard Meyer de Sélestat. The abbey is very richly decorated and is beautiful from floor to ceiling. http://amisabbatiale-ebersmunster.fr/leglise/

Village of less than 500 inhabitants, Ebermunster is known worldwide for its Saint-Maurice abbey church. Built from 1725 by the Austrian architect Peter Thumb, it is home to a religious community whose origins date back to the 7th century. Undoubtedly the richest Baroque building in the region, it has three onion bell towers 48 meters high. On the porch, in a niche, Saint-Maurice welcomes pilgrims, while the Virgin sits at the top of the pediment. Inside, the visitor can only notice the beauty of the decor. Among other things, we will admire in the nave, the paintings of the vaults which illustrate the legend of Saint Cecilia as well as the trompe-l'oeil representing the Assumption sheltered in the dome. http://amisabbatiale-ebersmunster.fr/

In Ebersmunster stands the most important baroque church of Alsace. Even from a distance recognizable by the high onion domes. The church belongs to the former abbey of Ebersmunster and the monastery buildings today still occupy a large part of the small village. In Ebersmunster you should be able to eat delicious fish in the restaurant of the Deux Clefs.
