Along the Loire River, a pleasant area to stop and watch the boats sail by.

A pretty, slightly narrow bridge that allows you to cross the Loire. A nice view of the Loire at the same time :)

The bridge was built in 1882. It is a truss girder bridge with a lower deck. 400 m long, this structure constitutes an important crossing point of the Loire for traffic between the Nantes metropolitan area and the "Nantais Vineyard", especially during the congestion of the Ponts de Bellevue, located downstream.

It was in 1873 that the general council launched a study to build a bridge between Nantes and Ancenis. In 1876, out of the 24 candidate municipalities Thouaré and Mauves were selected. Work began in 1879 and ended in 1882. The bridge was destroyed twice during the 1939-1945 war by the French and then by the Germans. Rebuilt by the Germans in a different architectural style, then destroyed again, it was finally remade by the French in the image of its first construction.

Relatively safe bridge, although unfortunately there is no dedicated lane for cyclists.

An iron bridge painted blue spans the Loire to Mauves-sur-Loire to Mauves-sur-Loire. Small place to take a breather.

The bridge has been widened and made secure for cyclists, two cycle lanes on either side, on their own site! Well done !
