Nowadays, only very few mills are still in operation in their original function, but hikers or cyclists along the course of the river see them as technical-historical monuments of an ancient handicraft tradition: The heavy millstones in the moved inside and so, for example, grain could be ground into flour (so-called grain mills) or oil could be pressed from (e.g. olive) fruits (so-called oil mills).

The banks of the Marne at this location are worth it!

Nice place on the edge of LAGNY - MONTEVRAIN On the Marne, the Quincangrogne mill is said to have been a hunting rendezvous for King Henry IV. The current, more recent buildings housed a paper mill whose brand took and retained the name of Montévrain, even if it is today located elsewhere. The RATP works council is now the owner of the premises and has developed it into a holiday center with the adjoining campsite. Although its appearance has changed a lot, it must still be considered as a rare witness to the many mills of yesteryear which dotted the course of the Marne.
