The church was built at the beginning of the millennium on the remains of a Roman temple and is the only one still in use. Worship has been celebrated here, without interruption from the Middle Ages to the present day. It is the most beautiful, best-preserved medieval church in the municipality. It was restored in the 1990s. Thus, the church of St Pierre de Barbotan was built at great expense for the time: the entire building rests on stilts and bundles of wood, because at that time, the surroundings were nothing but marshland.

Cazaubon dates back to the Gallo-Roman era. Just over the other side of the Lac de l'Uby is a Spa town/area. There are public toilets and water access at the church in the center of Cazaubon.
