The Iller has been undergoing reconstruction for many years from here to Buxheim, or rather, the "construction sins" of the past are being corrected and the cycle path is rightly closed. Many trucks come here, which is why it is dangerous during the day and the very long path to Buxheim is much too narrow. Steps are being created from the weirs that allow fish to "ascend", even if the fish population is not doing too well. Hopefully, this will improve with the reconstruction.

I live in Kempten and have long had the Iller cycle path on my list to tick off, it's simply boring and leads through the forest most of the time. What difference does it make that the Iller flows there. None.
