It was really steep. But it's manageable with an e-bike.

Arriving up here on my regular touring bike was my personal highlight of 2024. Warm clothing is definitely a plus, at least for the descent. Don't forget it!

Very beautiful monastery in the Sénanque valley, and home to a community of Cistercian monks since 1148. The view is particularly splendid when the lavender fields are in bloom.

Northeast of Gordes lies the Cistercian monastery of Notre-Dame de Sénanque. It is one of the most photographed buildings in Provence. With a few interruptions, monastic life has been taking place in the monastery again since 2009. Only part of the monastery is open to the public. From the D 177 country road you can see the monastery almost from a bird's eye view. It is a wonderful sight, especially in early summer, when the lavender fields in front of the monastery building bloom in bright purple colors.

Gordes is a Provencal village located in the heart of the Vaucluse mountains. The high-altitude village was built entirely from dry stone and is one of the most beautiful villages in France. From here you have a fantastic view of the old town with its Gordes Castle, which stands on a rocky peak about 360 meters high and rises about 300 meters above the valley level. The view of the mountain village is simply stunning, especially at sunrise.
