Reproduction in the church of Vouhenans in 1948 by Jean Bertrand and Bojena Krieshoferova, his wife. Infant Jesus of Prague The Infant Jesus of Prague, known as the Bambino di Praga, is a 47 cm high wax votive figure depicting a Christ Child with charming features, whose right hand is a sign of blessing and whose left hand holds a globe crowned by a cross. This statue, originating in Spain, was received by Duchess Maria Mai Lara as a gift at her wedding to a Czech nobleman in 1556. His daughter, Polyxena de Lobkowicz, offered it to the Convent of the Discalced Carmeters in the Church of Notre Dame de la Victoire in 1628. Many miracles were attributed to him during the Baroque period, including the protection of Prague during the Swedish siege of 1639. She was carried in procession around the city's churches in 1651 and solemnly crowned by the Archbishop of Prague in 1655. She is still the object of fervent veneration by pilgrims from all over the world. Her famous wardrobe is rich in more than one hundred precious garments, offered by illustrious or anonymous pilgrims. The most beautiful embroidered mantles and numerous objects dedicated to the cult of the statue can be seen in the Museum of the Infant Jesus in Prague, located in the Church of Our Lady of Victory.
