Unfortunately, the entire dike area where the bike path runs is closed, even for leashed dogs (which is a given). Unfortunately, signs only state this when you are standing directly in front of them.

The Gräpel punt ferry is a historic, hand-operated chain punt ferry that connects the village of Gräpel (municipality of Estorf) with the western bank. It is located not far from Stade and is a popular, enchanting excursion destination for cyclists and hikers as well as for walkers. The operating times and prices for the season: From May 1st to October 15th. Daily ferry times: From 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (outside these times by arrangement or by ringing the bell) on the bank. Price: A symbolic amount of €1.00 per person (including bicycle). Important notes for the crossing: Manual operation: The ferry has no engine and is pulled across the river on a submerged chain using muscle power. Assistance: It is customary for passengers to help pull; work gloves are provided on site. Capacity: Up to 20 to 30 people with bicycles can fit. Refreshments: The Gasthof Plate's Osteblick is located directly at the ferry landing stage.

In the immediate vicinity is the Mühlenbach stream on the Mühlenweg. You can reach the watermill by turning off at An'n Muhlendick and then immediately left again onto the path Am Wald. From there you have great views of the side and rear of the mill. Very beautiful to look at, interesting and recommendable. The Fredenbeck watermill is part of the Lower Saxony Mill Road. The mill was probably built in 1809 and is a listed building with a grain and oil mill. Today the building serves as a residential house and museum, where art exhibitions are regularly held. Visitors can view the functional millstones or explore the trout farming in the surrounding waters. Another bike tour led me to this beautiful historical place.

The listed gallery windmill was built in its current form in 1848, making it the oldest gallery windmill in the Altes Land region.

The Auetal is worth a visit....whether on foot or by bike (and it doesn't matter if with natural / chain or hub gears or with an e-bike). Many paths are flat / without significant gradients. I myself have my health limitations and for me these routes are also challenges, but doable....each at their own pace and difficulty level. I even know some who were able to reduce their medication dosage because of it.... So, just be brave and start slowly or increase gradually...many things are doable (perhaps for everyone, but for some).

Very great bike and hiking route runs here along the Ostedeich. The ferryman is very nice and takes guests across the Oste. The Gasthaus Osteblick offers many different seating options right on the Oste. The service is recommendable, very nice and friendly. New are public toilets to the right of the Gasthaus.
