The Château de Meslay is an elegant residence located in Meslay, in the Loir-et-Cher region, approximately 5 km from Vendôme, France. It is a historic monument built in 1732 by the architect Jules Michel Hardouin, nephew of the famous Hardouin-Mansart. It was built on the site of an earlier fortified castle that had hosted Henry IV in 1589. This château is unique because it has remained in the same family for 11 generations. The current owners, the Boisfleury family, worked to have it listed as a Historic Monument in 2016 and to open it to the public in 2019.

The Talcy Windmill, which dates from the 18th century, consists of a stone base topped with a cone which supports a wooden cabin (the Hucherolle) which rotates with the wind. It is one of many mills in the region and its configuration is very particular and fascinating.

You can also learn about the history and culture of the people who lived and loved the castle, such as the poet Pierre de Ronsard, who wrote his famous sonnets for Cassandre, the daughter of the castle's owner.

Beautiful, secluded, very quiet castle. For people who accept a detour and don't have any hype for it.

The Old Castle of Meslay was an old fortress of the 15th century evolving into a pleasure castle in the 16th and 17th centuries. Henri IV, young king of France, was welcomed there by its owner, René de Fromentières, from November 15 to 20, 1589, during the siege of Vendôme, then in the hands of the Catholic League, which ended in a real bloodbath. spurce : chateaumeslay
