Adorable little lake where it's good to have a picnic and swim before getting back on the road!

Wonderful views over Herault and Languedoc; on a clear day, you can even see Montpellier and the Mediterranean Sea in the distance. The climb is arduous; the path is often well-trodden, very uneven, and in places leads over scree. If you follow the path along the ridge instead of the tourist trail, you'll have to negotiate some scree fields and small climbs.

A very beautiful route, the only drawback being that it's extremely popular, being close to Montpellier. There are several variations ranging from 7 to 25 km.

Possibility of making a loop to get to the Château de Montferrand from the car park

Some parts are steep and slippery. The loop itself is no longer feasible as it is, on 3 occasions we had to turn back or choose another route because the route was no longer accessible (vegetation too dense, privatization of the passage)

The lake is very empty. And summer is not here yet!😞we can go before the hut along the bank since there is less water to access the parking lot and continue the walk
