It is a radio broadcasting facility, which was later also used to broadcast TV programs. Until 1960, a free-standing steel lattice tower 48 meters high was used for this purpose. The current 100 meter high reinforced concrete tower was built between 1959 and 1960. Since October 2006, it has carried a 23 meter high cylinder made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP cylinder), in which the antennas for DVB-T are located. There is a 2 meter adapter piece between the concrete tower and the cylinder. There is also a Feratel (weather panorama radio link) webcam service.
