This gate, built in the middle of the 15th century, was the entrance to the castle and opened onto the suburbs of the city. It was crossed by a double drawbridge, which spanned a deep moat. Mazarin ordered in 1651, at the time of the Fronde, the destruction of part of its structure (entrance castle, top of its keep and certain areas of its ramparts).
