The beginning of the descent towards Mizoën

In my opinion, this is a scenically beautiful, but road-wise extremely dangerous descent. Due to the numerous loose chippings and many asphalt patches, I slipped and fell in a long left-hand bend. I broke my collarbone and a rib. Therefore, my urgent advice is: please ride here with extreme caution.

There are no crowds here, just you, the mountain, the wind, and the sensation of pedaling on one of the remote peaks of the French Alps. The summit, at almost 2,000 meters, offers a 360° panorama that erases fatigue and ignites the cycling spirit.

Very technical descent, I recommend using bikes with disc brakes.

About 7 km at ~9% to Clavans-le-Haut on a narrow road with uneven tarmac, offering superb views.

Each stage winner finishing at Alpe Huez has their name inscribed on one of the 21 corners of the official Tour de France climb. Since our beloved Marco Pantani won twice in 1995 and 1997, his name appears on Turns 2 and 3.
