Thanks to the car ban, you can relax and look out over the fields at Chur's so-called "creative landmark". A new work of art has been on display since November 2024.

The mill tower is the "creative landmark" of the city of Chur and the largest mural in Switzerland. Over the course of more than two months, the Chur artist Fabian "Bane" Florin and his team created the largest mural in Switzerland on the mill tower in Chur. The work of art was unveiled at the beginning of November 2018 and shows two hands revealing a Graubünden rock crystal at a height of almost 40 meters. With this creative landmark, Fabian Florin has created a composition in his home town in which the crystal at the top symbolizes the energy that lies dormant in all of us. On the other hand, Florin has erected a lighthouse to show travelers the way and offer safety to those returning home. Fabian Florin did not come up with the idea for the subject on the drawing board in a Chur studio, but in Iceland, 2500 kilometers away. "During a trip through Iceland, I was immensely fascinated by the raw, archaic nature. The more I dealt with the surroundings, the earth, the stones in Iceland, the more I realised what incredible nature we have been blessed with in Graubünden," says Bane. Through intensive engagement with the rock, my respect for time grew. Time that can coax treasures from Graubünden's nature. Treasures such as the oldest local gemstone: the Graubünden crystal. "The oldest city in Switzerland, represented by the oldest Graubünden gemstone - the image in my mind's eye was perfect," Florin continues.
