If you go down to past the NAOK Azur restaurant, there is a swimming spot where locals climb into the Ioanian Sea / Yacht Harbor via ladder.

At the entrance to the Old Fortress in Corfu Town stands his monument, which was dedicated to him during his lifetime. Count von der Schulenburg was a German in the service of Venice and was supposed to save Corfu from the Turks. The Venetians sent the strategic luminary to Corfu with 5,000 men when the situation became serious. In July 1716, 65,000 Turks landed on the island of Corfu. Schulenburg and the townspeople barricaded themselves in the Old Fortress and tried to survive the siege, which lasted for weeks. Schulenburg's men and the entire townspeople are said to have defended themselves with every weapon imaginable. The Turks retreated, morally defeated, and prepared a new attack. During this time, a violent storm broke out and caused the Turks great trouble. When Saint Spyridon is said to have appeared to the besiegers during the night, they left the island of Corfu in panic. The monument at the entrance to the Old Fortress was created by the Italian sculptor Corradini and erected on September 12, 1716. The Corfiots still treat Schulenburg with respect today: during the annual St.Spiridon processions, people stop in front of the monument and fire a salute. Source: corfu.de/korfu-stadt2.html
