The Sabarda tower is an old signal tower perched on the heights of the Fenouillèdes, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, it completed the defensive system of the castle of Fenouillet, alongside Castel Fizel, to watch over the four cardinal points before being abandoned in the mid-15th century. The path leading to it rises gently then steepens as it approaches the ruins, which are today fragile and prone to landslides. The effort is rewarded at the summit by a magnificent 360-degree panorama of the Fenouillèdes reliefs and the surrounding valley.

The ascent to Puilaurens castle is a climb leading to a famous Cathar castle in the Aude, perched on a rocky spur of the Mont Ardu at an altitude of 697 meters. The trail, steep and root-strewn, winds through a shady pine forest before ending with an old stone path and an impressive system of zigzagging switchbacks. From the ramparts of this well-preserved royal fortress, one of the "Five Sons of Carcassonne", the panoramic view encompasses the Boulzane valley and the distant Pyrenees.
